Tonight was a great night for Pancreatic Cancer awareness. It was the Purple Light Nationwide Vigil for Hope where over 70 communities lit the night purple to honor and recognize those loved individuals battling or who have battled pancreatic cancer.
My dad was the keynote speaker at the Milwaukee event. Dad was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer February 12, 2013. His speech is below. I couldn't be more proud!!! My dad is the reason I started this blog, because when he was diagnosed, no one was giving us any hope for a stage four diagnosis. Eight months out, we are so thankful that he is kicking butt and we celebrate every day! I could say more, but I wouldn't say it better than he says it himself!

ReplyDeletehi Jeannie, your dad's story was very inspirational! My mom was diagnosed in May after months of misdiagnosis. She was on GTX, and it was working up until last month. She tried abraxane and gemzar, which didn't work and today she's starting FOLFOX. My sisters and I were wondering what type of supplements your dad was referring to in his video. I was trying to use google +, but thought to post here too. Thanks!!!

Hello Jeannie! I'm so thankful to find this and happy for your dad and all of your family! My father n law was diagnosed last week with the same. They gave him 6 months and a chance at kemo with a 1% chance to get better. Well, he wants to be that 1%. My wife and her family are overcome and in a slurry of a schedule and emotion so I am trying to get any info I can. If u have time, I would love any references that you could pass on. Is only been 2 weeks since we found out , but this doctors dont give you no hope they tell you whats you decisions now . Were burly coping with news we want to still live my dad is still walking and talking he say's he has no pain . Had one visit with the cancer doctor. My dad was admitted to the hospital today they put 2 pints of blood I think he might give him more tomorrow. But this people come to talk to you from his Insurance what are we going when that give no more blood , and then they talk hospice . This people arent there help you there just there to take care of the health Insurance money . They dont care if you still have . Everybody tells dont give up .

Hi Jeannie: Your Dad's story gives so much hope to those of us affected by this disease! My Mom has stage 4 pc with mets to the liver and lungs and we found out tonight, to the stomach. She did abraxane & gemzar and then xeloda. The cancer spread and she has had horrific side effects that have hospitalized her 2x: uncontrolled vomiting & diarrhea, clots and infection. She is being considered for a clinical trial but only if her gi issues subside. Can you please give me info re: your Dad's treatment, supplements and diet? My mom was diagnosed stage IV PC 4/8/13 @ the age of 48. The tumor was in the body (operable at diagnosis but bc it met. she was no longer a canidate) several liver spots, & a lung spot. She'll be doin round #13 of chemo Monday (7 Folfirinox, 3 GemsR & Abraxene, & 3 more Folfirinox). In Aug her tumor markers dropped to the low 600's so they let her have a break as I got married 9/21/13. And ever since shes snowballed.
A collapsed lung, extreme pain (pain pump put in 10/30/13), constant nausea/vomitting. Her mental fight is drained. And its hard to keep pushing her and see her helplessness. So please if you will email me what supplements, meals, or even encouragment & the steps you and your family did to keep the fight alive. Thank you

He has lost some weight but still has goog appetite, no vomitting. Only fatigue and a bit of hairloss after 3 treatments of chemo. I would also like to know what vitamines or anything your dad took...

Hi Jeannie! What a remarkable story. It gives us all hope! My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last week. It is inoperable because the tumor is on a main artery. The doctor thus far is giving us hope with chemo to shrink the tumor before operating. We are meeting with the oncologist tomorrow. However, he has lost a lot of weight but still feels overall okay. One of the concerns is getting him stronger within the weeks to come before treatments. It is hard for him to digest certain foods. We found out by eliminating oil and gluten/wheat from his diet it is easier for him. We are concerned he still is not getting enough nutrients. I heard your dad's story and had her watch it and she was very inspired.
She is very upbeat in spite of the diagnosis as well. Jill is the most loving and caring person you would ever hope to meet. When she found out she had the cancer, she issued a challenge to all
to do 29 random acts of kindness in 11 days. This is in respects to Jeremiah 29:11. The challenge was so amazing and touched so many people that 2 TV stations interviewed her. I am including a copy of one of the interviews in this message for you and/or your dad to watch if you would like.
I know she would love to talk to him if that is ever possible.

ReplyDeleteliver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
