Treatment course, specific individual symptoms and support. I am not going to loose her in 3-6months or a year. I AM NOT. I may become obsessed with keeping her alive but I have the energy for it.

DeleteI have been following your Dads story from the beginning. My husband - father of our 6 children- was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma 4 years ago this May. He has had the ups and downs of chemo the entire time but has enjoyed so much life we did not expect after the initial diagnosis. My advice to patients and families is to pray- don't give up and ( in hindsight) don't dwell on statistics. Congratulations!!!

I have been so lucky to have your father's kind support as my husband fought stage IV pancreatic cancer. My husband lived fully through his year of fighting the disease. He, like your dad, was an amazing man. While he died on March 20th 2017, I am stronger because of your father, and my husband would be so glad for that. My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer,stage 2b this past December. His medical team opted for 4 rounds of Folfirinox, followed by 28days of radiation plus xeloda...all of this in preparation for the Whipple. Last week we returned to Houston, MDA for pre-op prepping. We got devastating news. The scan showed mets to the liver and he is now considered to be stage 4 and inoperable.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great blog and job you are doing with your fathers care. My dad was diagnosed March 17, 2017 with locally advanced, inoperable PC - we did 3 weeks in Mexico at an alt clinic...although our care and experience there was great, we learned just two months after being home, that it has spread to his liver. He has lost a considerable amount of weight and now has trouble eating and swallowing solid foods. We started chemo yesterday and although he was very weak after treatment, seems to be doing ok today. We are also starting acupuncture this week to help with the side effects. Your blog is a breath of fresh air for other people and caregivers dealing with this dreadful disease. His diet is very very clean, we juice (green and carrot) and he doesn't eat sugary foods. We are doing everything we possibly can and are hopeful our dad will respond to treatment, like yours has. Lets all stick together...if we do, then I am positive one day there will be a cure.
Thank you for your inspiring story. My father was just diagnosed on 9/11/17 with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer. He has a 3cm lesion in his pancreas and two <1cm lesions in his liver that are "suspicious for mets". Unlike most though he also has bone metastasis. After reading such poor statistics it is nice to hear such an inspiring story. We will meet with oncology in a few days to determine treatment. My father is also pretty physically fit and very active so I'm hoping that my dad can also beat the odds. I am def looking into the supplements in addition to chemo and radiation.
